A former Cu-Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in sec. 29, T14N, R84W, 6th. Principal Meridian, along Copper Creek, 9.4 km (5.8 miles) WSW of Encampment, on patented (private) land. One of the three most productive copper mines in the Encampment district. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 50 meters.
Mineralization is a polymetallic deposit. Widespead copper mineralization was found in veins and in shear zones in Sierra Madre granite. Five distinct veins occur, ranging in width from 18-44 feet. The ore consisted of chalcocite and chalcopyrite. Local alteration includes potassic (secondary biotite, muscovite, and chlorite). Local rocks include metasedimentary rocks: Libby Creek Group.
Workings include surface and underground openings. By 1901, more than 1,700 feet of tunnel and several hundred feet of drifts had been driven.
Production data are not presented in either Geological Survey of Wyoming bulletin.
