Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Lazurite
Formula:Na7Ca(Al6Si6O24)(SO4)(S3) · H2O
Comments:Mike Hawkins, curator of the mineral collection at the NY State Museum wrote:
"... lazurite from the St. Joe Edwards Mine found in the 1970's. I think it is the intermixed diopside that fluoresces blue-white. The Edwards mineral was originally described as hauynite, but modern analysis shows lazurite. They are very difficult to tell apart with sophisticated tests."
