Description
Comments:Analysis done on tourmalines from Antandrokomby Simmons et al 2001) shows that these are members of the Schorl-Elbaite series with significant Mg and Ca contents
Habit:Type I (of Nizamoff et al) prismatic, zoned crystals up to 30 cm with dark olive-brown cores and thin, dark red rims ; Type II =stubby, zoned, reddish-purple xls with olivebrown core ; Type III= masses of fibrous, unzoned crystals
