Clarkeite from
Ruggles mine, Grafton, Grafton Co., New Hampshire, USA

Description
Comments:Frondel (1956) noted: "Clarkeite has been said to occur in reddish-brown gummite at the Ruggles pegmatite, Grafton Center, New Hampshire, but it was not observed in specimens from this locality examined in the present study." As gummite and other minerals were frequently reported from this and other localities without data, frequently as wishful thinking, the clarkeite folklore is unbelievable given the thoroughness of Frondel's uranium mineral research.
