Rutile from
Polsingen, Ries Crater, Nördlingen, Swabia, Bavaria, Germany

Description
Comments:Rutile is associated with two other TiO2 polymorphs :
- TiO2 (alpha-PbO2 structure) with pink internal reflections
- TiO2 (Baddeleyite structure P21/c) with intense blue internal reflections and reflectivity much higher than rutile
TiO2 with ZrO2 structure forms fine-grained polycrystalline monophase grains surrounded by shock-twinned ilmenite and rutile, or single grains rimmed by rutile, alpha-PbO2 TiO2, ilmenite and titanite.
