Fluor-buergerite from
Barra do Salinas District, Coronel Murta, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Locality type:District
Classification
Species:Fluor-buergerite
Formula:NaFe33+Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3O3F
Comments:Unbelievable occurrence of a ferric tourmaline in a granite pegmatite. The statements in Min Rec. 33:215 are insufficient to accept this identification. Optics, specific gravity, and "gemological techniques" can not be accepted as conclusive proof. Quantitative chemical analyses are necessary.
