| Comments: | Now recognized as augite, this material was formerly called "jeffersonite." It occurs as dark colored, rough crystals to over 20 cm in weathered ore zones between the folds of the Sterling Hill orebody. Good crystals also occur at the contact of very tough, massive, dark augite/hendricksite/augite rock with marble. Crystal terminations typically slightly rounded. |
