Pyrite from
Aris Quarries, Aris, Windhoek Rural, Khomas Region, Namibia

Locality type:Quarry
Classification
Species:Pyrite
Formula:FeS2
Comments:No analytical details provided in Wartha et al. (2006). A suspected pyrite crystal turned out to be sphalerite with a very thin golden oxidation layer (U. Kolitsch, unpublished SXRD-analytical results).

A natrolite-analcime sample from a phonolite outcrop nearby the two quarries contained tiny cubic pyrite crystals (J. Esche material, visually identified) (Kolitsch et al., 2016).

Blaß et al. (2021, p. 22) has two photos of very small, golden colored octahedral pyrites (max 10 micrometer, in aggregates to 0.1 mm) on unidentified matrix. Analysed by SEM-EDS; Fe:S ratio always 1:2.
