Ankerite from
Carrock Mine, Mungrisdale, Eden, Cumbria, England, UK

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Ankerite
Formula:Ca(Fe2+,Mg)(CO3)2
Comments:As a late infilling in the tungsten veins and in considerable amounts in the 'ankerite veins' (mineralized faults diverging north-westwards from the Emerson vein). Smythe & Dunham (1947) published an analysis of 'ankerite' from the Harding vein, but with only 7.5 wt% Fe this represents a ferroan dolomite.
