Jail Hill Road locality (Jail Hill Quarry), Haddam, Middlesex County, Connecticut, USA

Formula:CaMn2+Si2O6
Comments:Fibrous tan or gray johannsenite is intergrown with pink bustamite in a few specimens from the Jail Hill quarry. The X-ray pattern indicates a clinopyroxene, and spectrographic analysis shows calcium and manganese as the principal cations of both minerals. The association is entirely characteristic.
