Granite pegmatite associated with the Conway granite. (Note: This is not the same locality as the Red Ridge locality, which is also sometimes called the "North Moat Mountain Locality.")

There are many localities on North Moat Mountain, notably Peter's Pocket and the Pine Knoll. Miarolitic cavities are scattered throughout the south and east facing exposures usually around the 1050' to 1150' elevations. Peter's pocket is officially closed to collecting and has been filled in by the U.S. Forest Service and anyone found at the site will be fined.

North Moat Mountain is a mountain summit; coordinates are for the mountain.
