A former Au-Cu-Ag-Pb-Zn mine located in sec. 25, T2S, R17E, MDM, 2.2 km (7,300 feet) W of Jackass Mountain (coordinates of record). Operator Adams, A. E. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters (an unreasonabloe value). This is the second oldest patented mine in the county (patented in 1856). It comprises nearly 1000 acres; 100 acres of patented mineral land, 740 acres of patented timber land, 2 tunnel locations and 1 millsite.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Permian slate, schist, gneiss and granodiorite. The ore body is pinch and swell in form, strikes N65W and dips 40E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Related rocks are crunpled black slates, slaty mica schists and coarser-grained gneisses. There are 3 major parallel veins, the Bondurant, Reynolds and Louisiana. Ore shoots occur at the 300 foot level and between the 150 and 200 foot levels. Altered dike rock is probably fine-grained biotite-rich granodiorite. The Bondurant vein is 18 inches to 4 feet thick. Local alteration is chiefly hydrothermal. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 125.58 meters. There is a total of 2,500 feet of drifts on the 100, 150, 200, 300 and 350 levels. A crosscut tunnel of 1,100 feet, which may or may not have been klengthened to 1,700 feet, was also driven.

In 1870 $30/ton (period values) ore was being milled. From 1888 to 1940 17,000 tons yielded a total of $290,000 (period values). From 1940 to 1942, an additional 12,000 to 14,000 tons were mined, which yielded approximately $98,000 (period values). During the period 1911 to 1915, approximately 746 tons of ore yielded 431.95 ounces Au, 259 ounces Ag, 3,672 pounds of Cu. From 1931 to 1940, a total of 16,595 tons of ore yielded 7,879.92 ounces of Au and 5,176 ounces of Ag. Also 85,000 pounds of Pb was produced, probably in the period 1880 to 1940.
