How to Contributenew member

2nd Apr 2005 21:09 UTCLynne

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to mineral collecting and stumbled onto this website by accident. However some accidents are meant to be. This is the BEST website I've ever seen. It is SO packed with info that you don't see in books and I've learned more off this site than the 5 books I went out and bought.

Coming from Scotland (west coast) I have decided to concentrate my collection on Scottish stones, especially agates which are apparently prolific in this area, and I have picked up one or two bits on a couple of beaches but they're not big. I would also like to collect amethyst and smoky quartz, the other two big names in Scotland but I wonder if anyone could help suggest any other easy minerals to collect (without having to hike up glens and abseil down cliff faces!)

Your help is appreciated and I will let you all know how I get on.

Thanks

p.s. How does one get listed on the members list?

To have your name appear on the public listing of Mindat members directory you have to click on in front of yes for the "member directory" (this is just above the terms and conditions at the bottom of the registration form). This will put you in the public listing with all of the info you have provided.

If you go to the Add/Edit button on the top navigation header and then go into the Update My Details page, you can change your registration information.

Hi Lynne,

If you type your region, ie, Ayrshire, in the Localities search, a list of sites will be displayed along with minerals from those sites. Then just take your pick.
