What is the policy of adding unidentified minerals?
I added a sub locality to Saint Pierre de Broughton today since I thought it would add to the knowledge of the local geology. There is a mineral that I found there that is attractive, however I have not been able to identify it yet. Since it was a new discovery I though it might be significant. What is the policy for unidentified minerals? I have been photo documenting a lot of unidentifieds and am hoping to get them identified at some point. However I think unidentified minerals that appear to be different from the common minerals should have theri accurate source noted and recorded.

You could try posting the "unknowns" to the ID HELP page.

You can upload it also in the category "Other photo".

Good suggestion Uwe, but can photos uploaded as ``other`` in this manner be unnaproved as well as being approved....

Most seasoned members are aware of the identity help forum, but some newbies aren`t. Eventually someone will direct them to the right place to inquire. Like Wayne has suggested.

Please don`t take offense Fred I am not suggesting you are a ``newbie``, just using the term in general context, reflecting on your thread.
