MineralsThorianite

Does anyone know how big the largest crystal ever found in Canada is? How about in the U.S.A.?

With the talk about thorium reactors....maybe a really big thorianite crystal could power it....kinda like the dilithium crystals in Star Trek... Collect your own power source! OK, not really.

The most thorianites of significant size (up to some pounds) come from madagascar. Some are still available. I got one 80+ gram crystal from there. Some crystals and pebbles with a weight above 10 gram come from sri lanka. The thorianites from other locations are rarely above some grams.

On the page about the Yates (Uranium) Mine in Otter lake, Canada, there are pics of mm-sized thorianites: http://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?loc=6403&min=3944

I read that the Huddersfield http://www.mindat.org/loc-217952.html ones are up to 12mm. Does anyone know of a larger one?
