Mindat process question

As a relatively new and small-volume contributor to Mindat (42 photos uploaded, 30 accepted), I am a little puzzled by the process by which specimen photos are accepted for the site. Some appear on the locality page almost instantly after uploading, while others uploaded at the same time for the same locality don't appear for weeks. Why is this? I'm not complaining, just curious.

Also, the photo counter on locality pages doesn't always update when photos are added. For example, when one points to the Photos button for the Mount Carroll Quarry, Carroll County, Illinois, it indicates that one specimen photo is available when in fact photos of seven specimens are displayed when one clicks the link.

In both cases, is there something I should be doing differently when submitting photos?

'Why is this?' - we have different people approving photos from different areas.
You can see what photos have not gone through the approval process by selecting on your home page "What Photos to Show" - "all my unapproved photos". Any photos that managers have emailed you about are in the "my questioned photos" gallery.

"Also, the photo counter on locality pages doesn't always update when photos are added." - Due to constraints on the server, we cache locality and mineral pages. The photo counts are only updated when we regenerate the pages.

At the very bottom of the page you will see "Current server date and time: 4th Mar 2013 00:31:15 " which is when the page was generated.
