I am mainly here to help my 8 year old who is a total science nut obtain some info. He expects his old man to know everything about everything but geology is not one of my stronger subjects. Here is his first request. The picture should be linked to photobucket so you can click on it and zoom in if necessary. He acquired this from an uncle so I have no idea where it came from originally.

The specimen kinda looks like galena, but ID from simply a photo can be a tough task.

The first picture seems to show grey galena and black sphalerite, while the second appears to show yellow pyrite and white quartz. A nice crystallised ore specimen.
