The typed number on the paper apears typical of the Joe Cilen collection, Hawthorne, NJ.

Jeff, the top line says "Koboushi mine" (I think... the characters are a bit unusual); second line says "Iyo-gun, Tobe-cho" (roughly translatable as Tobe town in Iyo county). This place is in Ehime Prefecture, but it's not the same mine as the much more famous Ichinokawa sibnite mine in the same prefecture. Date given as year-month-day, the usual japanese order.
Cheers,
Alfredo

Thanks Alfredo, I'll post some pictures.

Chet - I probably have seen 100's, if not 1000's, from Joe Cilen's collection. I have some low numbers, including numbers 1 and 3, in my collection!

Thanks for the photo, Jeff.

It's nice to see a rock with its locality and date collected painted on the rock itself - At least there's one that won't lose its label! I'm one of the guilty ones that doesn't do this often enough.

Cheers,
Alfredo
