Great shot! Very difficult to get, given the high reflectivity of the Clinoclase.

Hello "DOC",
First, I must say the photo and specimen of clinclase done by Elmar are superb!!!
Secondly, I must say that many, many participants on this site have more to there credit than one, simple PhD and don't feel the need to brag about it!! In fact many are world renown in the mineral sciences....AND chemistry!!
Thirdly, to call the microscopic study and collection of minerals "impractical" is totally unscientific - and, yet, you brag about being a scientist!!
I respect your desire to collect "only what you can see", however this limits your ability to see many beautiful mineral specimens - I do not respect your attitude that it is "impractical" or unscientific to collect micros!! Show Us your best clinoclase, your best olivenite, your best libethenite, your best turquoise crystals.....they are "bling" of a different nature, usually far more beautiful, perfect, and classic in form than any gross specimen.
I don't normally respond to posts such as your's have been and I'll neither read nor respond to any more of your's - they're just not relevant!!

Hey 'doctor', perhaps you should give up the internet, as electrons are way too small to see and clearly they are impractical and therefore of no use to you. And I suppose I should throw out my new telescope because, well, without it I can't see all those faraway nebulae and galaxies, it's just too impractical so who needs to know about the universe and all that stuff? And I'll stop enjoying music, and thinking about things, because the only practical things to do in life are eat, crap, and procreate.

OK, I'm just BS-ing here. Why don't you help us out by posting your own photos, and maybe even exposing yourself further by actually using your REAL NAME?

Doctor or whatever, I deliberately waited quite a long time before reacting on any of your postings in the forum.
This posting of yours however goes way beyond anything that has anything to do with science, you are using science merely as a petty excuse for childish and irritant remarks, and that at your age (that is, if you are in fact a RETIRED scientist, or were you just fired because no one could stand your irritating behaviour anymore?)
Bragging (!) about your scientific career won't impress me, I'm a professional musician, Bach, Monteverdi, Haendel and the likes impress me (!), and I collect minerals, found a fair bit as well, big and small.
Neither will it impress any of the mineralogists, geologists or chemists here, many of whom have earned their way in their respective fields of science, obviously they don't have to hide behind pseudonyms, I can "google" all of them and find a wealth of sometimes ground breaking scientific publications!
So, cut the crap and start posting under your real name, back it up (your name!) with scientific publications (otherwise no one here will believe it is actually your real name.....)
Mindat is a very liberal and open community devoted to mineralogy, everyone with a genuine interest is more then welcome but you are just acting stupid!

regards

Harjo

Kudos to Harjo! I agree.

No self respecting scientist would say something so incredibly rediculus "DOC". It shows a real lack of education to say something like that. If science was based on things you could only see, we would still live in a dark world! Thank goodness we have professional scientists that aren't so close minded.

BTW, why were you looking at fly hair if you don't like things that are so small?

Thanks,

Hello folks,

first a big thank's for the compliments about my photos. I hope you enjoy my future contributions.

A little story about the Chrysocolla pic [www.mindat.org]

This picture was created during a visit of Frank de Wit (many here will know him, and like him for his positive energy). I've demonstrated him the creation of such a photo with my new setup, multiple layer technology with CombineZP and postprocessing. At this evening weve have planned to do many photos and other mineral related stuff, but this photo was all we can do, because of the hot weather and a huge load of spanish Tapas food (and maybe something to drink). So, don't hope for more than 1pic/day from me ;-) .

Best regards
Elmar

p.s. i've missed the DOC thing completly, and now all his messages are gone (will be better not waste my time for this :-) )
