Just getting this going - will post any data or problems if interested or e-mail me. Has a nice zoom range (optical 6x) and decent resolution. Maybe will post examples later. Bill

Hi Bill,

I'll be interested in your results. I have the Fuji FinePix 2650. I haven't done much with it yet, but my results so far have been less than spectacular. I haven't learned to use the macro yet and I don't seem to have much control over the white balance.

Good luck,
Don

I use a Fuji FinePix 4700 with a custom adaptor to hook to my scope. All the micro pictures I have posted here at Mindat were taken with it. I have no problem with the white balance as long as I shoot in the manual mode so that I can set it. My light source is 3200K and with the balance set to incadescent it seems to give pretty good pictures.

Hi,

I have a Nikon CoolPix, not a Fuji FinePix, but I have occasionally had strange things happen with directory structures and names. A friend had a card refuse to read on an external reader, although he was able to retrieve some of the photos later. One of the extra cards (Compact Flash II) which I purchased recommended reformatting after every download - I think that this is excessive, but I reformat my cards about once every 3 months or so, and have not yet lost any pictures.

Hope this may help,

Evan

Thanks Evan for the tip. I've gotten a new memory card, (for free at best buy) since the last one went bad. Now that I'm aware of reformatting requirments for my card, I think I'm fine!
Thanks again

Now, I'm just looking around for telephoto, and wide lens for
my finpix 3800. The ones that Fuji offer come with 1.5x zoom, and .79x for the widelens. There are other manufacturers out there, like kenko, and op...(something) that offere better zoom, but is significantly CHEAPER. I like saving money, but I don't wanna buy some cheapscape that won't meet my performance requirment. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Plz help me pick out the right lens!!! THANKS

No POWER on 3800
August 03, 2005 12:43PM
Hi, Bill... or anyone with relevant info.

Have thoroughly enjoyed my FINEPIX 3800 for 2.5 years. Did notice that for some reason I would have to reset the date and time with every set of new batteries, which was just a minor nuicance. Also, more recently, even with new batteries, the camera would shut off unexpectantly, and I would have to switch it off and back on again. NOW, after a big weekend of use, it will not POWER ON under any circumstance. Have tried three sets of batteries. Usually it will light up & shut off if the batteries are bad.

Would appreciate any suggestions. May be that I am missing something less obvious.

Thanks....

Much the same symptoms being experienced on a Fuji 4700. Keeps shutting off, irrespective of new batteries, and date clears. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

"power off" problems

is their internal batteries for memory settings? It may be there is a small internal battery similar to the "old fashion'd" SLR's that kept preset settings active. 2 to 3 years seems about right to replace one if one is present.

Best of luck.
