It is IMA 2008-066.

Is this, in effect, a discreditation of villyaellenite?

No its ordered.

But other minerals have both ordered and disordered varieties too - Do they qualify for species status?

In this case there are 3 sites where cations can substitute into.

Does anybody know if ALL "Villyaellenite" from the Veta Negra mine is Miguelromeroite - or if the "ordered" intermediate keeping the Villyaellenite-name also occur there ?`Does it mean that all labels and pictures of "Villyaelenite" from this locality should be changed to Miguelromeroite ?

My understanding is that all of the material from Chile and the Sterling Mine, New Jersey, USA, is the new mineral and that "Villyaellenite" is presently limited to Cap Garonne, France.

Villyaellenite at the type locality of Saint-Marie-aux-Mines. (I am not aware about villyaellenite from Cap Garonne).

My mistake! I meant Saint-Marie-aux-Mines!

Hello friends:

according to my information, (also pointed out in Knut's question), ALL THE FORMER VILLY'S from Veta Negra (chile) should now be considered MIGUELROMEROITE, so it's the NEW MINERAL descibed in Dr. Kampf-Stuart Mills et altri.
Smile you all, we have a new mineral in our collection!

A major restyling of the Veta Negra site should be done from Managment in the future!

Pd: I personally believe (but this is a personal matter, not Cience), that there are some solid solution at Veta Negra, and Villy is also there, but untill we don't proove it, .....

What about the other localities for "villyaellenite" ? I have a specimen from Japan. Does anybody (Alfredo ?) know if this is still to be considered as Villyaellenite ?

The occurrence of villyaellenite at the Gozaisho mine is mentioned in at least two papers, the wallkilldellite [(Bulletin National Science Museum 27,45(2001)] and the romeite [Mineralogical Journal 18,45(2001)] articles. However, no analysis is given in either paper. It will have to stay villyaellenite until an analysis is published.

Tony Kampf has apparently worked on the Gozaisho material, or knows someone who has, and says it is miguelromeroite plus a possible new, related phase, but not villyaellenite.

Thanks to both of you. I will keep the "villyaellenite"-label with a? until further data is published.
Does anybody by the way know if Tony Kampf has studied the type material of villyaellenite to support the redefinition ?
