Dear all,
Could you please help a poor mineral collector to understand some status shown in the mindat database?
I compared some of them with the IMA/CNMNC list of mineral names (2009) or follow the new messages at IMA status forum and I got a little confused.
Minerals shown as Grandfathered:
ANORTHOCLASE: should not be considered as “intermediate member”?
SCHIRMERITE: was not discredited (IMA/CNMNC list of mineral names from 2009)?
MAGNESIOASTROPHYLLITE: should not be considered as “published without approval”?
Minerals shown as approved:
HYDROXYLBASTNÄSITE-(Ce): should not be considered as “published without approval” like -(La)?
NATROKOMAROVITE: should not be considered as “published without approval”?
VEATCHITE-A: should not be considered as polymorph of VEATCHITE?
FLUORSTROPHITE: ?
SODIC-FERRI-CLINOFERROHOLMQUISTITE: ?
IVANYUKITE-Na-T and IVANYUKITE-Na-C are not polymorphs of IVANYUKITE-Na?
Other cases:
FERRIC-NYBÖITE and FERRIC-FERRONIBÖITE: what are the status?
FERRIPEDRIZITE was discredited?
UVITE, “Hydroxyuvite”, IMA 2000-030: very confusing for me
Synonyms for GITTINSITE: IMA 1979-034 seems to be ok, but not IMA 1970-034 (refers to TAKANELITE ?)
SARRABUSITE should not be included in the database?
Thanks,
Reynaldo
