Thermessaite is IMA 2007-030.
The type-descripion is announced in a next Canadian Mineralogist.

Marco,

I can live with "fluoroaluminates", but calling them "aluminofluorides" severely hurts me.

Also chemists use it - google for "aluminofluorides".

"Fluoroaluminate" or "aluminofluoride".

The name is after "Thermessa" = warm earth, old name for the island of Vulcano.

Ah, Peter, for smooth human relations you have to tolerate those who express themselves illogically. I feel pain when I hear a mineral was "self-collected", but I just take an aspirin... confused smiley

Well, everybody knows that there aren't any minerals out there that collect themselves. They would save us a lot of time if they did, wouldn't they ?
