Ok here is a question for everybody. I have a friend that lives in Alabama more specifically Gordo Alabama. My question is a question through him what kind of rocks minerals or fossils can be found where he lives. He owns about 500 acres of land and he is hoping to put his land to some use. He is hoping to maybe allow collection on his land if he has something that might be found.

If it was a question about Indiana I could personally answer him but I am not a man of the south.

Thanks for the help.

Gordo is in Pickens County. Our database reflects only 2 species for the entire county (phosphates), which might be massive material. Sorry, not much to offer there.

Lot of sand and gravel in the area with beds of clay and thin lignite. The gravels in localized spots contain some very nice silicified wood and rarely the clays produce lignitized wood fragments and fossil plant leaves.

Thanks Milton also thanks Chester. Actually in my friends case this is how his life works. 500 acres of trees and hills and hillbillies. But nothing more that he could make a buck off of.
