I need somebody to kindly tell me where I could find a piece of pink quartz, or at least quartz. Thank you so much!

Thomas,

You did not specify if you want to find a place to buy a piece or collect a piece yourself. If you search on "Rose Quartz" in Mindat, you will get a list of places where pink quartz occurs. Many of these places are not available to collect. If you want to purchase a piece, there are many fine dealers who can help you. A piece of common rose quartz is not expensive. Rose quartz crystals from Brazil are quite rare and expensive. If this does not answer your question adequately, please provide a bit more information such as where you are (generally) to determine if there are any localities (or dealers) near you.

You can also Google "rose quartz for sale" in quotations and you will get a plethora of dealers and suppliers.
I am sure , enough to fill any of your needs.

Why is rose Quartz pink and why does it fade in sunlight?

If you go to the main page and type in what you are looking for you can find most of the answeres to your questions. Above is the page for rose quartz.

Thanks, Carol. For many years Manganese was supposed to colour amethyst, presumably because permanganates are often purple. Is the manganese or titatium really the chromophore in rose quartz? Surely they don't evapourate in sunlight?

There are probably tweo causes for the pink color. In euhedral crystals, it is believed to be caused by Al-O-P color centers. The color in the massive material is believed to be due to inclusions of a dumortierite like mineral.

Thanks David. The Al-O-P centres shouldn't fade. I've never left my rose quartz xl in the sun to check it. The "dumortierite-like" mineral must fade as the massive pink quartz does easily.

You probably mean " Rose Quartz " the color is produced by an inclusion of manganese and titanium. The rose quartz pit is a good place in Bancroft , Ontario.
