Bruce, you are moving to a prime area for rockhounding. Maryland has some good spots that my buddy Lawrence hunts but it's nothing compared to South Carolina. You have Diamond Hill not but a couple hours away if even and all around that western part of South Carolina is many many amethyst and smoky quartz spots...sapphire in laurens county, beryl at Amos Cunningham.....you have the famous Due West Amethyst deposit(which is not open to the public). Right across the border in Georgia is the famous Jackson Crossroads amethyst deposit and right down the road from that is also the famous Graves Mountain

Jason or any other informant have locations on these places in South Carolina. I found Diamond Hill, still looking for addresses or location information on good sites for gems or gold in South Carolina. Thanks and if you don't want to broadcast it, feel free to send me a private message. Look forward to hearing from you.
