Notes for Authors

As Uwe suggested we need to prepare a series of Notes for Authors. Guidelines for use of mineral & locality names will match those for the mindat.org website, other guidelines will be broadly in line with similar publications.

ok,
so you need some help to make the notes or you're already doing them by yourself?

Jolyon,
Perhaps many of the articles for the magazine could suggest themselves in the questions and answers posted on the bulletin board. If there are a lot of questions about how to clean rust stains out of various minerals, perhaps the respondents to those questions could be persuaded to get together and come up with an article on how to clean off rust stains from various minerals. These articles could also be the basis of answering frequently asked questions.

Rock,

As judged by the answers to the "what is a mineral" thread and the "mineral groups" thread - there is great interest in these areas and these are due for great debate within the magazine

A guide for authors is being assembled as we speak (write)...should have it up within a week (after approval from the MinDat heirarchy) :-)

As someone who has never written an article for publication, I welcome guidance. I have written an article on the uraninite site in Topsham (Swamp Quarry and/or Trebilcock Locality) that is informal but, I hope, informative. I know the discoverer, Cliff Trebilcock, & believe he should receive credit for his discovery (c. 1956) even though he kept it secret for many years.

When can we expect this to hit the shelves? I guess hit the monitors would be a better description.

Well, you might have seen the new mindat articles system taking shape - the magazine is going to evolve out of this.
