Can anyone suggest a way to clean this ?

I suspect this to be scapolite ( see other thread about identify and Erik and Ralph's commnets), now I am wondering how to get a better look at the crystal to confirm identity,How might I clean this?

I would suggest the use of the commercial cleaner called iron out or by using oxalic acid. The methods for these cleaning methods are described in this article about Cleaning Quartz.
