Hello,

I am in the Black Forest around end of may, I think. If you're interested we can meet. I know the area very well.

Collecdting at the still open Dorothea Mine is strictly forbidden. The material is worked at the Clara Dump. You can collect it there.

There are some other old mines in the forbach valley near Freudenstadt, but I've been only one time there looking for the Dorothea Mine. You reach it from Freudenstadt first driving in the inner city left to Baden-Baden/Kniebis and then after leaving Freudenstadt there is a small road going in a 180° right curve down to Christophstal. Near a small fish farm on the left side is the Mine.

Hello Sebastian,
thanks for your reply.
I've already been in the area and I noticed that Sachtleben (the same company exployting Grube Clara) is revaluating the area, cleaning up the place in front of the Dorothea entrance and therefore ready for reopening it (according to Clara Mineralien newsletter).
By the way, we can certainly meet, Sebastian. I'm going there quite often and I'm planning to reach this wonderful places at least evry 3 weeks.
This is my private email address: machv83@hotmail.com
Feel free to contact me so we can chat about minerals.
All the best,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I couldn't send a message to your mail adress. There are only error messages coming after I tried.

Please contact me at erwin.moeller(at)freenet.de (Replace (at) with @).

Which areas are you interested in? Only
the kinzig area or the whole Black Forest?

I'm collecting minerals from the whole Black Forest and Kaiserstuhl.
Have up to 5000 specimen, mostly (80 %) micromounts and thumbnails.
About 310 different mineral species.

I think the last week in may I will be in Wolfach for collecting. The
week after I will go to the southern Black Forest where I know some
productive places.

If you have some questions concerning minerals or localities feel free
to ask.

I have some micromounts for trading or swapping, too. Including
Cuprotungstite, Rankachite or Matildite, Silver and Copper from the
Clara Mine or lead minerals from Badenweiler including Lanarkite,
Elyite, Hydrocerussite, Minium, Caledonite.

Regards,
