Please forgive me not communication en Espanol, as my Spanish is not so good. I have a specimen labeled as "agardite-(Ce)" from Mina Aurora, Colmenarejo, Madrid, Spain. MINDAT lists "agardite" from Pilar Mine, Colmenarejo, Madrid, Spain. Are these two localities the same place or different. If different, is there a reference to Mina Aurora?

muchas gracias, Jeff

It is the same place as far as I know, you can read: González del Tánago Chanrai, J. y González del Tánago del Río, J.
(2002).- Minerales y minas de Madrid. Ed. Mundiprensa, 271pp, Madrid

(I have the book but I don't have it with me, it is... in Madrid)

I have not seen Agardite from Colmenarejo but I've been only in the dumps not inside the mine... maybe somebody else. Why don't you ask in FMF, some members of that forum have been inside.

Greetings

Arturo

I found this one the web, a list of corrections to MINERALES Y MINAS DE ESPAÑA by Miguel Calvo Rebollar

"Pag. 141. El cerro Centeno, situado frente a la mina “Aurora”, está situado en el término de Galapagar, no en el de Colmenarejo. La divisoria municipal la traza precisamente el arroyo que corre entre ambos cerros"

And also found this, a title of a document concerning a field trip to the mine "PROPUESTA DE EXCURSIÓN GEOMINERALÓGICA: MINA PILAR O AURORA [COLMENAREJO (MADRID)]." which shows the mine being on the slopes of el cerro Centeno, with an arroyo running more or less through the mine site.

I will conclude that Pilar and Aurora are the same place.
