describes phosphates from this pegmatite which seems to be missing on Mindat.
Or is it present under a different name?

I couldn't find anything relevant in a google search for "Maxedo".

Hello all,

the exact location cannot be described(there are many mines, including "meixedo"), but the real location is:
Meixedo, Viana do Castelo, Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Mazedo is only about 60 Km. from this place winking smiley

Cheers,

We are talking about 17 mines...
All at Meixedo. We cannot report the phosphates to a particular mine. Meixedo mining area: i believe this is the more correct way.

"Calvelo"
"Silveireiro"
"Meixedo"
"Meixedo nº2"
"Bouça da Àgua"
"Capela de Nossa Senhora da Rocha"
"Cocheiras"
"Alto da Mina"
"Cruz da Lenta"
"Balteiro nº1"
"Mata de Vila Mou"
"Pinhais"
"Balteiro nº2"
"Vilela"
"Pedras Brancas nº2"
"Lugar do Lagido"
"Vilela nº2"

About the minerals:
Quartz, orthoclase, microcline, muscovite, schorl, arsenopyrite, pyrite, "columbo-tantalite", cassiterite, rockbridgeite, huréaulite, reddingite, phosphosiderite. and more... (i'll look for the others)

Gracias, Pedro.
So Meixedo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meixedo) is different from Mazedo/"Maxedo" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mon%C3%A7%C3%A3o_Municipality)?
Do you know if pegmatites with phosphates also occur at Mazedo/"Maxedo"?

Or do you think the American authors confused the two localities?

Hello Uwe,
yes they are far diferent.
There are no pegmatites at Mazedo.

About "Maxedo", it's a mistake, and the only relation with Meixedo is the similarity of the two words.

Cheers,
Pedro Alves

Thanks! Corrected and updated. Please check: [www.mindat.org].

Feel free to add the individual mines as sublocalities.

Hello,

This will be the best but when you are in Portugal, it's not easy to know the name of the mine you visit....
Because in some of the mining district, you can have dozen of mines and every little mine have a name.
In a remote area, hard to find some one local to tell you.
