KMZ-Button for locations with coordinates

Hello Jolyon

I would like to see a button on locality pages (if coordinates available) with a KMZ-File behind. When i click the button my Google-Earth starts and zooms automatically to the location.

Maybe you find a way to automatically generate the needed KMZ-file from the coordinates (or you have actually for google maps ?)

I think this is will be great experience. Click the location and have a fly in with Google-Earth.

Best regards
Elmar

I believe it's on the to-do list. Agreed, this would be a GREAT feature.

It's half working. I have a kml export that works in some cases, but there were some bugs in it. It's quite clever in that it uses the google earth ability to send a rectagle of the current view to mindat, and for mindat to then return the appropriate markers for that view.

The idea was to do things like allow you to plot your own photo gallery on the globe, as well as exports of things such as searches or regional locality lists.
