At Tucson today, Dr. Bob Downes world famous Canadian mineralogist and scientist, was talking about the RRUFF project where he and his merry band of RRUFFIANS are amassing an amazing database of Raman data, and have about 2000 minerals recorded with totally accessible data with xray, photos, infrared and two kinds of raman readings. After the talk he and I were talking about Jolyon's previous visit to his lab 2 years ago, and blue skying about the possibility of a future merge of these amazing databases which if done, would make Mindat the best mineral reference source bar none. So, Jolyon, if you are interested, he is not unwilling to give help and consideration to this concept...

We have actually imported some of the Raman and X-ray data already (see the mineral pages). We have also provided links to the Handbook pages on the rruff site.

Did see that , David, but was suggesting an even deeper merging of databases that would enhance both synergistically and make Mindat an even better site than it already is....from a purely scientific standpoint.
