Field CollectingMalabo, Equatorial Guinea, Africa

13th Aug 2014 22:49 UTCGeoff Van Horn Expert

I'm going to be heading down to Equatorial Guinea in a week for about a month. Anyone know of anything out there worth collecting? Any sites on Bioko Island I could visit? I know the island has several volcanic craters, and that Malabo it's self is on the rim of one, but I'm in no way familiar with the geology of the area.

Oil industry by any chance? Worked with a few guys who have been there and never heard of anything of any mineral merit.

Yeah. Based out of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Always volunteering to go abroad for anything less than a month. According to some coworkers who have already been down to EQ this summer, the only thing you can collect there is knock off merch and HIV. I'll still kick around in the dirt though.
