Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone can direct me to where this is located in the klein spitzkopje are Namibia? I have found a German website which I translated but the directions is not clear, or to me at least.

http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=de&tl=en&u=http://www.mineralien-kabinett.de/okahandja-nam.php&usg=ALkJrhjt7hPEj_6mN6Lph61qO4jJ0c1iKA

Anyone willing to help? as I am going to Namibia this December and would like to visit the area for photos please.

Hi Herman,

Here is the translation, I hope it helps:

"From highway B2 (Usakos – Swakopmund) turn off to the right on the D 1930 and immediately afterwards to the left on the D 1918, direction Hentiesbaai. After a few km you will see on your right side a sign "Nature Monument Spitzkopje". Here you turn off to the right until you drive through a gate and you’ll see some ruins of houses. Here you make a sharp left turn. You continue along the fence until you reach the boulders of Klein Spitzkopje. You follow the sandy path left of the boulders.

Drive along a concrete basement between the boulders until you reach a large granite plate. This place is good for camping. Some 50m from here is a little dam, on the right hand side of the mountain is a little dump (ca. 10 m x 10 m) which belongs to the Stiepelmann - Mine. Here you may find small beryl, aquamarine, topaz, quartz, smokies, stiepelmannite (very small, yellow), bertrandite, albite, muscovite, microcline, phenakite.

If you follow the way on the granite plate further to the NW towards the canyon, you’ll get to a little drainage which often has some water. Along the flanks of the hill is the quartz dump oft he Brusius Mine, here you can find good aquamarines."

Good luck !

Nice looking hole in the ground. Did you find anything interesting?
