Lost and Stolen SpecimensMissing Haddam Neck Elbaite

On Friday January 22, 2016, it was noticed that a small, historic specimen of elbaite tourmaline from the Gillette Quarry at Haddam Neck, CT (AMNH#98718) was missing from a group of 27 others in the Mineral Collection of the American Museum of Natural History. We believe it was stolen, and we put out this notice in the event it shows up on the market.

The specimen is a single-crystal of elbaite measuring 5.6x1.1x0.9 cm with a green body and red-pink termination (see picture). A paper label with the catalog number was glued to the crystal.
