I can give it a try for you Robert, but I thought that you were a cutter yourself? How dense or solid is the material..

and know that for a ring, prehnite isn't very durable.and would scratch easily.

Robert,
How many cabs do you want cut and their size. If you want to have a more than a dozen cut you may want to explore the possibility of having them cut in China. If you want just a few cut, you should hook up with some local that does lapidary and pay them what ever they want to cut the cabs. Prehnite is much more scratch resistant than you might imagine and cuts without much difficulty. I recently sent about 100 balls of prehnite from the new Mali locality to China and had them made into small spheres and had them drilled to make a necklace out of and they came back looking great. Most of the prehnite from Mali is loaded into containers and sent to China as fodder for their lapidary factories. Because of the labor intensive nature of most lapidary procedures there are no lapidary factories here in the USA, only a few one or two man shops where high end lapidary work is done.
