Tumbler belts

The good news is that I got a double-barrel tumbler for Christmas. The bad news is that both belts that came with it have already died. I've been using rubber bands, but they don't last for more than a couple of days before they go, as well. I tried to use a belt meant for a sewing machine, but there was too much slip. Actually considering using the bands they use in the supermarket to hold bunches of broccoli. Haven't tried that experiment yet. Any ideas out there? Looking for durable and inexpensive. As you can tell, I'm open to creative, too.

Thanks

I'm guessing it was a Harbor Freight tumbler. They have a pretty poor reputation with their belts. They do use the same sizes as Lortone tumblers and these last a lot longer. If the rubber bands are too tight, they have a nasty habit of putting too much stress on the other parts.

David, you nailed it. For that reason Chris, I don't have much hope of working through the manufacturer though that is normally the best advice. I'll look into the Lortone belts. I've also heard that O-rings work well. If anyone else has suggestions or would like to put forward the name of a good supplier, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again

Not sewing machine... vaccume cleaner or a small belt from automotive (like Pep Boys) or machine shop motors. If that does not help and you need the lortone ones, I stock them. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks for the reply Gary. As a matter of fact, I went ahead and bought some Lortone belts. Put one on and been running steady ever since. My wife made the initial purchase. I've been using what I learn on this board and others to start providing her with trusted product names.
