Magnetic Diamond Laps

Hey Folks!

I'm new to this lapidary stuff, although I've been an avid mineral collector for years. I've just acquired a second-hand saw and lap polisher. The lap is cast iron or steel and measures 10" in diameter.

Talking to other lap hounds at mineral shows, a number of them favour the use of magnetic diamond-impregnated lap discs. I know that these discs are commonly used in engineering industries, but I was hoping to find a reliable supplier here in the UK.

Subsequent internet searches have revealled that these laps are all imported, with most being manufactured in China or US.

Can anyone guide me as to what is the best product to use, and where I can obtain them?

Thanks,

RooP!
