In my search for members in Vietnam, I want some advice and or help in aquiring raw stone lapidary samples of minerals from Vietnam. Not gem stone quality, just 10-15 lb. specimens for decorating in my garden. Thank you

What minerals do you want samples of for your garden? How many such stones do you want?

Hi there, thank for your interest. I will be in vietnam in Oct and I want to collect my own specimens. I won't have time to research the countryside, so I want some leads in Hanoi for rock, mineral, or lapidary samples. Aquamarine, spinel, apatite would be nice. My budget is limited so I want non-gemstone quality chunks. 10-15lb. pieces would be nice Are you a member living in vietnam? I do much better communcating by email. This forum of commuinication I'm having trouble negotiating. steve@shonagallery.com Thanks

No, I do not live in Vietnam, but have done some business there. If your budget is limited, have you considered the cost of shipping two or three hundred pounds of specimens to you home? Air freight will likely cost you perhaps 10 per kg. Sea freight is not usually practical unless you can fill a sea container.

I'll be trying to access 2-3 10-15 lb pcs. No problem with weight or shipping, I'll carry on Thank you. The quest is for getting the pcs in Vietnam and bringing them home as memento items

There are a number of dealers in Ho Chi Min city, but I don't think there are any mineral localities near there. How much time will you have to chase rocks?

Thanks for getting back . We'll be in Hanoi a few days and the name and or email addresses of any of these shops you might be aware of would be helpful. I might be able to communicate my desires to the proprietors and they might be able access and have waiting some specimens. Thank youfor your help. Steve
