I am trying to create order out of my collecting. I have looked for mineral cataloging/labeling software and cannot find an active link to download/purchase such software. Can anyone direct me to a software where I can created a database and then print out labels from it? There were several discussions on this on Mindat, but I could not make any of them work when I gave it a try. Thanks.

Henry, you might try this one and see if it's what you are looking for. Go to Bob's Rock Shop, www.rockhounds.com/. In table of contents, scroll down to software for rock hounds. The is a labeling program called "Ososoft" that is freeware. Hpoe this is what you are seeking.

It is a win98 program so you may have trouble getting it to work on more recent OSes

Henry,
If you also need good versatile cataloging software (combined with label making) I use the following for my collection. It does cost a bit, but has a large built-in database and will generate labels in a variety of sizes and formats. I'm still cataloging - haven't got to printing labels yet - but it looks like I'll save paper by printing multiple same-size labels in batches.

David,
I downloaded the archived SW and it will run under Virtual XP on a W7 machine. I have no idea if all the functions will work yet, but the basics appear to all be there.
Woodrow,
The MineralDB appears quite solid, if a bit pricey for my needs.
