I know we discussed this before.....
I still opt for a clear explenation in the caption under photos of specimens where the crystals are etched out of the surrounding matrix.

To me it seems that the Millerites are etched out of Calcite, that would explain the irregular shape of the needles, I've seen lots of etched out Millerites like these, whereas I've hardly ever seen free-grown Millerite like these.
Because Mindat is a database where one can see how a mineral actually looks like I think it's of rather great importance to explain why a mineral shows a specific out of the ordinary growth habit.
