Robbie Belcher and Ray Hill and a few other dealers will be at the UBC Open House this Oct. 24 and 25. The EOS dept. is hosting this and calling it "Explore your planet" There's lots of room for more "dealers" so if you want some table space contact Mackenzie Parker at

That's great Stuart. It will be good to see you again after all these years. Will you be manning an ID booth?

No, but I'll probably be trying to do crystallography so I'll pop by.

For those who may have missed the mineral Mayhem at UBC, it was a great event this year..we probably saw about 150 people a day through the rooms.
The tables were covered with really fine quality specimens including some from the famous Babet Collection. Crystalworks of Vancouver had a major presence, as did Robbie Belcher's Aesthetic Underground, Ray Hill's Great Crystals dot com, and the Rob Wooodside Collection.

For me, the greatest pleasures were seeing old mineral friends, and of course encouraging kids to collect...and there were a lot of families that came to see us. What surprised me, were a couple of 4 and 5 year old kids that already knew about minerals and fossils and had their own collections and there was one dad that came with his kids, who told me a tale about his 6 year old insisting on continuing collecting in 40 degree celsius weather near Drumheller, when he, the dad, had to retreat to the air conditioning of his car...now that is a future geologist for sure.

In the end , it was a lot of work for two days, but it was very worthwhile...
BTW, we actually did see Stuart Mills , [who came up for air after being secreted away for such a long time in the bowels of the labs of EOS department.] That was a treat too.
So maybe next year, if we do a repeat, we hope that more dealers will be there and of course , we hope even more people will come too...
