This event occurs in tandem with the Keweenaw Mineral Days event sponsored by the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum and Keweenaw Gem an Gift. Early August is a great time to visit the Keweenaw, and there are lots of great minerals to collect and buy. Very much worth the trip!

This is really a 10-day series of rock and mineral activities, kicking off on Friday, July 31 with the first field trip of the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club’s 42nd Annual Gem and Mineral Show. The Friday trip is tentatively scheduled to go to the Republic Mine.

The show itself follows on Saturday, August 1, with numerous dealers indoors and out, as well as our famous silent auctions all day. The show closes with the evening “crackerbarrel” session with an entertaining and informative program, a live auction, and the drawing for raffle prizes. On Sunday there is another field trip, tentatively scheduled for the Lindberg Quarry.

From Ishpeming it’s a short two hour drive (past numerous collecting sites!) to Houghton and the Keweenaw Days activities and the Copper Country show.
