Improving Mindat.org6 type localities

31st Oct 2005 04:35 UTCPeter C

These type localities are currently not listed:

1. Labradorite (Ford Harbour, Paul Island, Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada.) First described by Werner, 1780.

Werner also described enstatite from this same locality (1789) as Labradorische hornblende. Is this the type locality? Enstatite currently has no type locality listed on mindat.org.

2. Taramellite (Candoglia quarries, Candoglia, Mergozzo, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Province, Piedmont, Italy)

3. Wenkite (Candoglia quarries, Candoglia, Mergozzo, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Province, Piedmont, Italy)

4. Quadridavyne (Monte Somma, Somma-Vesuvius Complex, Naples Province, Campania, Italy)

5. Rosièresite (Rosières copper deposit, Carmaux, Tarn, France)

6. Kalsilite (Lake Mafuru, Chamengo Crater, Uganda)

Fixed for quadridavyne, rosièresite, taramellite and wenkite.

Correct quadridavyne type locality is Ottaviano (NA), Vesuvio volcanic complex, Campania, Italy.

I have not fixed rosièresite. I don't know so well the Rosières copper deposit to complet the paragenesys.

Jean-Marc peux-toi le faire? Merci.

In my database for enstatite I have Kenngott (1855) and Berge Zdjar, Moravia, Czech Republic (Werner don't use the name enstatite).

Thanks Marco
