Improving Mindat.orgQuestion on the heirarchical database

29th Dec 2005 13:26 UTCBarry Flannery Expert

When one clicks the first part of a site name i.e. Tynagh Mine, Killimor, Co. Galway, Ireland and clicks the Ireland part, a full listing comes up and then if one clicks ''list as heirarchical'' a very messed up and jumble heirarchy comes up unlike the one that comes up when normally searching.

I suggest that when one clicks this button, MinDat should redirect them to the original (as in normal) page as the one that comes up is very incorrect and messed up as said above...

I agree with your statements and have no help. But isn't it spelled hierarchical, not that it really matters?

Frank,

It's spelt how I spelt it on MinDat and I Presume it's derived from the word ''heir''.

I know that that is the way it is in Mindat, but is it right? I am not a native speaker so I am always unsure...

Just had to check this one out, and my oxford says "hierarchy"/"hierarchical".

Happy New Year! :-)

...and by the way...

it's from Greek "hierasthai" meaning "to be a priest". hierarchy might also have the meaning "priestly government"...

PA and Frank,

My appologies to both of you.
