Improving Mindat.org(Somewhat) Identical Photos

28th Jan 2015 05:53 UTCJason Bennett

Hi Guys,

I just stumbled across two images of the same specimen, though both are from the same angle.

It looks like Rock Currier uploaded these... would you like to take a look at them Rock?

Cheers

Jason

Hi,

You can report these as duplicate minID's so that they can be merged without loosing a pic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and best regards.

Paul.

Is it possible that one pic is made with UV light, the second with natural light? Then it would be no duplicate.

Edit: Oh, I just have seen the problem. Once stilbite, once laumontite. I should learn to read first (also the details)....

Volkmar,

You are right, it would not be a duplicate sensu stricto but it would have 2 minID's what is not the purpose.

It could be uploaded as a child photo.

But first, the true identity should be revealed.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Paul.

It is laumontite on stilbite so it is both.

Its the same specimen. Probably taken some time apart. Can someone reference the procedure for merging images or making one the daughter of the other?

You fill in the parent ID on the child photo edit.

Many of Rock's photos had blue disease, to the point that he went back and tweaked the colours from memory. Do we really want the blue Laumontite? It is prettier and it does cause you to wonder what it is:-D

The blue one looks like LED lighting.

Merged with a comment on the blue.
