Improving Mindat.orgDisappearing site photos

13th Jan 2007 16:22 UTCAlan Goldstein Expert

Last time I checked the Columbia mine, Marion, Crittenden Co., KY, the site photos had disappeared. I thought I had posted several in the past couple of years. Last year when I checked, I saw only one. Now there are none! I have posted about a half-dozen photos today, but they do not appear on that page. I also posted a dozen or more site photos from other mines and quarries, and they ARE posted. What's up with the Columbia mine?

The current site photos do show up for the ones you posted today for the Columbia mine. There is a bit of a problem with the caching of the locality page not being cleared when you entered the site photos. For instance if you click on the detail page (assuming that isn't in the cache now), that will bring up the fact that there are site photos available. Not sure what happened to the earlier photos (there might have been a problem when two locations were merged last October).

Yes, that was the problem. Three photos didn't have the locality changed when the locations were merged. Should be fixed now.

Speaking of locations needing to be merged, Halls Gap is one that does. Halls Gap IS the US27 road cut. It is redundant having them separated. There are a lot of photos that you don't want to lose by merging them!
