Hi Frank,

"Sylvanite" is a miners name or trade name (not sure which) for the mixture of sylvite and halite mined in Carlsbad by the potash companies.

I'm not sure how to enter this synonym in Mindat.

It should be sylvinite, not sylvanite.

Entry deleted.

Can someone check to see if any other 'sylvanites' have been entered incorrectly?

Mike,
The sylvite-halite mixture is indeed called 'sylvinite'. There are additional references to 'sylvanite' used for the same mixture.
