Chlorite

Synonym of:Chlorite Group


A name commonly used for undifferentiated members of the chlorite group. While the name "chlorite" once indicated a mineral species, it is now the name of a Group of species - there is no longer a mineral named "chlorite." Common species in the Group commonly termed "chlorite" are clinochlore, chamosite, and cookeite.
